2007_11_10 Jim Shows Mark The Track : What a great day! Jim very generously showed me the right lines round the track and gave me countless tips - I can't thank you enough Jim! We did the National Circuit and I was put into the Racer Group. The first lap was OK, the second lap was pushing it, and I was starting to worry, supposing if Jim is only at 60% of his top speed! But to my relief we were doing the same speed as the tail ender racers - phew!

I found out that I wasn't getting off the bike "evenly", that means my bum and head were not in line and I wasn't getting low enough. (See Jim's demo in pic 09). This is what comes of riding roads when you don't have to "get off" the bike.

There were a couple of eye-openers, Jim accelerates hard into the breaking zone, and my Blade finds it hard to live with Jims race prepared ZX600 on a straight up to 200 clicks.

Ben, Sue, Andre and JunJun turned up to provide support, which was great, and to take some pics and videos.

Well I stayed on two wheels, including a trip along the rumble strip on Terry's Corner, and got a lot more confident about my abilities, which is why we do this - right? But next time I'll slow down to get smoother so that I can get faster!

2007_09_28 Jims Practice Day : This was Jim's first practice on the Kawa 600. It would appear that it was a great success - bike and rider are going well! Abdul Aziz, last years super-stock champ, is impressed so far. Good luck to both of them.

Lots of interest in the 600 by potential racers, Jim just needs the licence to do business. Mike (900RR), you should give this a go mate - you'll be ace. I floated the idea of 1 bike with 4 FOG riders - no takers. If anyone changes their mind, you can rent a race prepared bike off Jim for a reasonable fee and go racing for one weekend. Is that an idea that appeals?

The Wrong Way Round 2009 : Passed on by Ian a number of weeks ago...

Gent’s,

The idea of riding back to Europe seems to have crossed the mind of just about everyone who owns a bike in the U.A.E. But undertaking such a trip on your todd is a little more adventurous than most of us would like.

However, undertaking the 6,000+ km jaunt with a group of like minded nutters is much more feasible. Preparation and logistics become easier as the tasks can be shared, costs can be reduced with greater numbers. Depending on contacts, number of riders, make of bikes etc. sponsorship of some kind may even be a possibility to offset costs of the trip, if we could generate enough publicity.

So, I’m testing the water here to see how much real interest is out there. If you know of anyone else who may be interested, please pass on this email and the attachment.

Cheers
